The Advocate Cafe

The Advocate Café (Soup Kitchen) has been a mainstay for the community since 1983. Monday through Friday 100-125 people per day are offered a delicious and nutritious meal for lunch. Dinner is offered 4 days per week to 30-35 children who participate in any aspect of the Advocate Center for Culture and Education After School enrichment program.
The Advocate Café is a fixture in our North Philadelphia community. Many of our patrons serve as volunteers who serve meals, help to ensure cleanliness in addition to managing the community clothes closet which distributes gently used clothing to patrons.

A gift of $20 helps purchase the needed cream, sugar and tea bags for our guests for a hot beverage for a month.
A gift of $50 helps pay for a U-Haul rental van once a month to pick up our large food donations from the Office of Homeless Services.
A gift of $100 helps pay for all paper products needed to serve the lunch each day for a month (plates, bowls, cups and utensils).
A gift of $250 helps pay for the monthly fee to have a commercial trash service haul away all our trash from the Cafe (as required by the City of Philadelphia for operating a soup kitchen).
A gift of $800 helps provide the additional food purchases needed for a whole month to supplement all the donations received. Serving 125 guests a day for a month (aprox 20 meals per month), that equates to 2,500 meal servings or $.32 per serving.
